Podcasting With Soul

Perhaps podcasters think too hard about if we CAN add value to ideas, because beyond qualitative considerations about how we CAN add value, we need to realize that we cannot help but add value. We add value through personality. We add value through style. We add value through soul.

In no way different than taking an existing set of lyrics and chords, and changing the entire dynamic of a musical conversation between an artist and an audience, podcasters possess the tools to re-craft message and embody musical style through our messaging.

  • Who says podcasters can't embody rhythm?
  • Who says podcasters can't embody groove?
  • We arrange, improvise on themes, express counterpoint, explore harmony?
  • Who says we can't have soul?

Anthony Marco writes: A teacher of English, Media and Dramatic Arts. I currently record and produce five podcasts: DyscultureD, TV Eh?, lovehatethings, Best Episode Ever, and Talking is Dead. DyscultureD and lovehatethings are, most definitely, NSFW.

I have web-published two eBooks based on the lovehatethings blog entries from 2008 and 2009 which, combined, have over 115,000 reads on myebook.com and scribd.com.

I have also spoken at Podcasters Across Borders 2010 in Ottawa, Podcamps in Toronto and London, delivered Social Networking and Social Media workshops to educators across Ontario, and guest lectured at Lakehead University. I've appeared on CBC Radio's Q with Jian Ghomeshi and TVO's Search Engine podcast with Jesse Brown.
