Starting a blog is one thing; starting one that's funny can be...well...tragic if not handled properly. My talk will go through the process of planning, starting and maintaining a comedic blog that is as informative as it is entertaining.
Whether you wish to adopt a different persona for your humour site or simply want to write more comedic posts, adding a bit of "the funny" to your writing will further satisfy existing readers and draw new ones.
Blogging funny is a bit of a different ballgame than simply writing funny, thanks to the medium. I will review the elements involved in not only getting started on enhancing your comedy chops, but also how to reach out to new audiences via social media strategies* and other ways to draw people to your material.
*Don't worry, I don't wear logo'd denim shirts...so if you're looking for me to mention SEO then you're SOL.
Biography
Mike Vardy is a writer, humorist, speaker and productivity pundit (of sorts) based out of beautiful Victoria, BC. He says he has the most amazing wife he could ask for, along with two equally amazing children. We're pretty sure he's right.
You can find much of his comedic work at the productivity parody site, Eventualism. As a result, he wound up contributing guest articles to several blogs in the sphere as a "legitimate productivity-ist" , including a year-long stint as editor of Work Awesome, the popular productivity/work-life balance blog. He continues to host the podcast adjunct to the website.
His plethora of online projects can be unearthed at Vardy.me. He makes enough money to live on by working from home as the Canada + Apps Editor for The Next Web.
